The Farmer and His Sons
An old farmer was very ill. He called his three lazy sons. He wanted to teach them work. "Our vineyard hides a treasure," he said. "Dig well and find the treasure!" Soon the old farmer closed his eyes.
The sons took spades and hoes. They went and dug the vineyard. They dug deep under every vine. For days they turned the soil. But they found no gold at all. Sadly they stopped digging.
In autumn the vines gave many grapes. The good soil made a great harvest. The sons sold the grapes and earned money. Now they understood their father's real treasure. Work was the greatest treasure of all. Working hands always bring a rich harvest.
Tend the vine and it will feed you.
