The Falcon and the Kite
Once upon a time, in the dense whispering forest beyond the lush green valleys, there lived a noble falcon who was the master of the skies. This brave bird would glide among the clouds with his keen gaze and give confidence to all winged creatures with his majesty. One fine day, a small and cunning kite appeared on the same high cliffs. The kite was burning with the desire to win the friendship of the falcon and to be respected as he was. The kite, who felt an admiration mixed with envy, finally decided one windy morning to approach the falcon. "O proud hunter of the skies, I have come to form a great hunting partnership with you," the kite began to speak. The falcon, surprised at the self-confident manner of this tiny bird, looked at him with curious eyes.
The kite puffed out his chest with an exaggerated air and boasted, "If I wish, I can bring down even a huge mountain goat." The falcon smiled slightly at such an impossible claim, but he accepted the offer. "If that is so, catch the big stag grazing in that valley, and let me see your skill," said the falcon. The kite, who feared being crushed under the lie he had told, took a deep breath when he understood that he could not step back. Taking the sharp wind behind him, he began to glide swiftly downward, toward the big animal in the valley. But the closer he came to his target, the more the size of the prey frightened him, and in panic he lost his control. The kite, who could not gather his wings, crashed with a great noise into a hard bush in the middle of the rocks.
The poor kite, coming out of the bushes by struggling, looked at the falcon with battered wings and in a wretched state. When the falcon saw this pitiful state of his, he glided down and landed beside him. "Attempting deeds beyond your strength and speaking big words has only harmed you," said the falcon. The cunning kite, who was embarrassed, understood his mistake and quietly bowed his head. From that day on he never again spoke big words about deeds that he could not do. The empty boasts of people who do not know their own limits will one day humiliate them in front of everyone. Eat a big bite, but do not speak a big word.
