The Eagle with Clipped Wings
Long ago, on the peaks of high mountains, there lived a powerful eagle flying freely. One day, while hunting, this beautiful eagle was caught by a cruel man. To prevent the eagle from escaping, the man cut its strong wings. With its wings clipped, the eagle could no longer fly and was sorrowfully thrown among the chickens in the garden. The king of the high skies began living on the ground with its head bowed.
After a while, a kind-hearted man saw the eagle and felt very sorry for its state. Buying the eagle from its cruel owner, the man took it to his own house. The compassionate man carefully tended to the eagle's wings and waited for its feathers to regrow. As its wings grew long and strong, the eagle began flying freely once again. Feeling grateful to the good man who saved it, the eagle hunted a rabbit and brought it to him.
Meanwhile, a clever fox present there witnessed this behavior of the eagle. "You should give this gift not to the one who did good, but to your old owner who cut your wings," said the fox. "So that if that cruel man catches you again, he will not harm you again," he added. The eagle wisely shook its head and answered the fox. "I prefer to remain grateful to my friend who showed me kindness," he said.
"As for people who do evil, it is best to stay away from them," he added. Soaring toward the sky, the free eagle bade farewell to its friend. A person who experiences kindness should feel grateful, while staying away from those who do evil. Kindness begets kindness.
