The Cat and the Mice
Many small mice live in a big old house. Every day they eat tasty cheese in the kitchen. One day a clever black cat comes to the house. The cat hunts the little mice at once. The mice are afraid and stay in their holes.
The hungry cat makes a plan against the mice. The cat hangs on a nail and plays dead. It does not move and waits with closed eyes.
An old mouse looks out and sees the cat. The old mouse knows this clever trick at once. It shouts to the small mice, "Stay in your holes!" "Even as a bag, you never catch us," it says. The plan fails and the sad cat leaves the house.
Clever animals do not fall into dangerous traps. Once bitten, twice shy.
