The Caged Lion and the Fox
The lion, king of the forests, was caught in a heavy iron cage trap prepared by hunters. A cunning fox passing by saw the lion's helplessness and began singing praises to him. The fox said "My glorious king, how does such a grand majesty like you fit in this narrow cage? I cannot believe without seeing with my own eyes, will you enter again and show me?" The lion became arrogant and fell for the fox's praise; having come out of the cage, he entered inside again, and the fox locked the cage door from the outside and left the lion to the hunters.
Arrogance, praise, and curiosity for applause make even the strongest rulers and leaders victims of the simplest intelligence traps. A person whose arrogance is stroked with fancy words surrenders their freedom with their own hands. It is essential not to be carried away by the cunning praises of the enemy and to hold the mind superior to arrogance. Arrogance blinds the eye, drops one into an intelligence trap.
Falling for arrogance and praise drops one into intelligence traps. Arrogance drops a person into a trap. Falling for praise makes one lose freedom. Cunning words should not be believed.
