The Bull and the Wild Goats
Once upon a time, a strong bull lived in a green valley below high mountains. This strong bull had jet-black hair and huge sharp horns. One day, a wild lion chased the bull through the forest. The bull ran fast toward the mountains to escape the dangerous lion. Beside the path he found a big cave, dark and safe. The bull went into the cave at once to save his life.
But rude and bad-tempered wild goats lived in that cold cave. When the wild goats saw the big bull, they did not want to help him. The little goats ran at the bull and pushed him with their sharp horns. "Go away now, you cannot come into our home!" they shouted. The blows hurt, but the bull stood there patiently and did not move. Outside, the hungry lion still walked in front of the cave.
The bull looked at the rude goats and sighed quietly. Then the bull turned to the goats and spoke in a calm voice. "I am quiet now because of the lion at the door, not because of you," he said. "When the danger ends and the lion goes away, you will see my strength," he added. The wild goats heard this and stepped back in shame. When the lion left, the bull came out of the cave and went on his way. Patience in hard times is not weakness, it is only wisdom. Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.
