The Boy and the Scorpion
In a sunny village there lived a little boy named Ali. Ali loved catching grasshoppers in the fields and playing with them. One warm spring day Ali decided to visit the big meadow. He took a small bag and set off full of excitement. Colourful grasshoppers were jumping quickly in the green grass. Soon Ali filled his bag with many grasshoppers.
As he turned home, he saw something move among the stones. He thought the creature behind the stone was a big grasshopper. He quickly reached out to catch it too. But the creature was no grasshopper, it was a dangerous scorpion. The scorpion raised its poisonous sting and looked at the boy. In a hard voice the scorpion said, "Never touch me!"
"If you try to catch me, you lose all your grasshoppers!" it added. Ali pulled his hand back in fear. At that moment he understood how dangerous a scorpion is. He learned not to touch anything without looking carefully. He stepped back slowly and moved away from the scorpion. He held his bag tightly and got home safely. Seeing danger in time saves us from great harm. Measure twice, cut once.
