The Black Cat
Once upon a time, at the edge of an old forest where cool waters flowed, there was a small mill. In this mill lived a smart cat named Velvet, with pitch-black fur and green eyes. Velvet slept in the sun during the day, and protected the mill from curious mice at night. The old owner of the mill loved this loyal cat very much and gave him fresh milk every evening. However, an arrogant mouse lord coming from the nearby big castle wanted to steal the wheat in the mill.
The mouse lord gathered the other mice around him and decided to sneak into the mill at midnight. While Velvet was sitting quietly in a dark corner, he heard the whispers of the mice. The arrogant mouse lord whispered, "Tonight we will empty all the wheat sacks and carry them to our own palace." Making a clever plan, the black cat immediately hid himself behind a flour sack. When the mice approached the wheat, Velvet suddenly appeared and spoke with a deep voice. "If you steal the sustenance of this mill, the guardian spirits of the forest will turn you into stone," he said.
Trembling with fear, the mouse lord stammered, "We were just looking for a little food." Velvet replied in a sweet voice, "Something taken without labor brings happiness to no one." The smart black cat advised the mice to search for their own food honestly instead of stealing. Realizing the big mistake he had made, the mouse lord apologized to the Black Cat and the miller. After that night, the mice never touched the wheat in the mill again.
Thanks to his intelligence, Velvet protected the mill and won the love of all the animals in the forest. The miller and the smart cat lived a happy life in their peaceful small home. A gentle tongue and intelligence are always far superior to brute force. A gentle tongue wins over a hard heart.
