The Birth of Shyness

Once upon a time, beyond the lush green valleys, there was a magical garden covered all over with snow-white flowers. All living beings in this garden lived in sweet peace, dancing to the delicate melodies of the wind. The most elegant inhabitant of the garden was a cute fairy-like flower named Akgül whose leaves were white like snow. Akgül had won everyone's love with her pure beauty, but never thought she was superior to anyone. One morning, as sunlight illuminated the garden, the ruler of the sky began to look at Akgül with admiration.

The sun, addressing all beings in the garden with a resonant voice, began to praise Akgül's elegance. "You are definitely the most humble and beautiful being in this garden," said the sun. All the other flowers enthusiastically applauded these sweet words, turning to look at Akgül. Seeing dozens of eyes turned toward her all at once, Akgül suddenly felt great bashfulness. Her heart began to beat with excitement, and not knowing what to say, she bowed her head. "I am just a humble part of this garden, just like you," she whispered in a shy voice.

The sweet embarrassment she felt at that moment began to spread to her white leaves like a warm wave. Her snow-white leaves slowly took on the warmest shades of pink and red. Those around watched this fascinating transformation with looks full of astonishment and admiration. This crimson color appearing on Akgül's face became the symbol of innocence and humility in her heart. Facing the beauty of this sincere feeling, the sun gifted Akgül a sweet smile.

After that day, a piece of this delicate color touched the cheeks of every human who blushed with embarrassment. Thus, blushing cheeks remained in the world as a sign of a clean heart and genuine modesty. Decency and bashfulness are the most precious jewels that adorn the human soul. He who has shame has purity, and his face remains honorable.
