The Bees and the Shepherd
A shepherd saw a wild bee hive on the rocks full of honey. Without taking any precautions, without lighting smoke, the shepherd reached into the hive with his bare hand to steal the honey. The angry swarm of bees whose hive was looted burst out all at once and flocked onto the shepherd's face, hands, and eyes. Stung by hundreds of bees, the shepherd cried out in desperation, left the honey, and fled toward the river.
Those who reach out to others' labor and property incautiously and greedily experience heavy pain and defeat instead of the sweet gain they expected. When desire for unearned and unjust gain unites with incautiousness, disaster becomes inevitable. Before reaching out to others' rights, it is essential to take into account the reaction of the owners of that right and the harm they will cause. Greed blinds a person's eye, awakens them with painful experience.
End of someone coveting others' labor incautiously becomes painful. Desire for unjust gain brings pain. One reaching out incautiously loses their life. Greed drags into disaster.
Respect should be paid to others' labor. One does not enter business without taking precautions. Unjust ambition pays a heavy price.
