The Astrologer
An astrologer lived in an old town. Every night he went to the fields and watched the dark sky. He followed the stars with great curiosity. One more night he lifted his head and went out. He looked at the bright stars in the sky. He walked and looked only up. He never watched the road in front of him.
A deep water well stood in the middle of the road. The astrologer did not see the hole. He fell into the well and sank in the muddy water. At the bottom he cried for help in fear. A villager heard the shouts and ran to the well. He saw the astrologer inside and stared in surprise.
"Oh, my friend," he said. "You want to read the secrets of the sky," he said. "But you do not see the well at your feet," he added. The villager threw a rope and pulled the astrologer out. The astrologer went home with great shame.
They saw one thing well: far dreams hide the near ground.
Keep your eyes on the stars, but your feet on the ground.
