The Argument About Fertility
Long ago, beyond the green valleys, stood a quiet forest. Bright flowers bloomed there, and the birds sang with joy. Under the huge trees a sweet wind always blew. Each day the animals gathered under the great plane tree. One sunny day they were chatting happily again. A mother boar stepped out of the busy crowd. Proudly she showed her many little ones.
"Every spring I bring many babies into the world," she said. Then she turned to the lioness, the forest's strongest animal. "But you can have only one cub," she laughed. For the boar, many children meant great success. The lioness lifted her head calmly and smiled softly. "Yes, I give birth to only one," she said. "But my cub is a brave lion," she added.
The boar heard these words and found no answer. The other animals quietly praised that wise reply. They understood: value matters more than number. Peace and a sweet silence came back to the forest. The sunlight kept shining like gold between the trees. Not the number of a thing, but its value matters. Better few and good than many and poor.
