The Arab and His Camel
Long ago, in a magical desert where yellow sands stretched like an endless sea, lived a kind-hearted man. This man had a huge and loyal camel whom he loved very much. One evening, an icy freezing wind began to blow in the desert. The man immediately set up his tent and took shelter inside.
The camel left outside stuck his head through the tent door. "Master, it is very cold outside, may I just put my nose inside?" he requested. The kind man could not bear to refuse his camel and agreed. A little later, the camel wanted to put his front legs inside as well. The man showed mercy again and gave permission.
As the night progressed, the camel gradually pushed his entire body into the tent. When the tent began to feel cramped, the camel pushed his master outside. "The tent is too small for both of us, you can stay outside," said the camel. While shivering in the cold, the man realized he was suffering the penalty of making too many concessions.
Give him an inch and he will take a mile. Excessive mercy brings trouble. He who sets no boundaries loses his rights. Do not allow your goodwill to be abused. Small concessions lead to big losses. Excessive indulgence brings regret.
