Aesop and the Shipbuilders
Aesop walks through the city. He comes to a shipyard. The shipbuilders sit there idle. They laugh at Aesop.
Aesop tells them a fable. First, earth mixes with water. Only water appears everywhere. Zeus wants to see land. Earth starts drinking the sea.
The first gulp reveals mountains. The second gulp reveals plains. Aesop imagines one more gulp.
One more gulp ends the sea. Then ships cannot sail. The shipbuilders’ work ends.
Mockery comes home.
