Aesop and the Dog
Once upon a time, at the edge of a green forest where cool waters flowed, lived wise Aesop. Aesop loved sitting in the garden of his hut and listening to the peaceful sounds of nature. On an autumn day when a cold wind blew, a pregnant and tired dog came to the garden. There was a helpless plea in the dog's eyes and great fatigue in her trembling steps. She asked the wise man for a small shelter and help to give birth to her pups safely.
Merciful Aesop took pity on the poor animal and allocated his warm hut in the garden to her. A few weeks passed, and the female dog gave birth to six strong pups as bright as stars. Over time the pups grew up, becoming young dogs with sharp teeth and large bodies. Being the original owner of the hut, Aesop thought the dogs could now fend for themselves. Going out to the garden, he said to the mother dog, "Your pups have grown up now, I need my hut back." But the mother dog set her former docile attitude aside and fiercely showed her teeth.
"If you want to remove us from here, you must fight my strong children first!" she boasted. Aesop experienced deep astonishment at the ingratitude of the animal he had once helped. When the threatening barks of the growing pups filled the place, the wise man had to step backward. Realizing that resisting brute force was useless, Aesop quietly walked away from his garden. Seeing his kindness met with malice, he etched this incident into his mind as a lesson for people.
Kindness done thoughtlessly can one day turn into a weapon that harms its owner. Bite the hand that feeds you.
