Abundance and Poverty
Once upon a time, in a peaceful fairytale country where golden yellow fields stretched, Abundance and Poverty lived side by side. Wearing sparkling clothes, Abundance was proud to bring joy and abundance everywhere she went. Poverty, who had old and modest clothes, walked quietly behind, observing the condition of the people. One day the two companions stopped on a high hill where a sweet wind blew and began to watch the rich city below. The people of the city lived in great splendour, but did not know the value of what they had at all.
Puffing up her chest with pride, Abundance turned to her friend and spoke in an arrogant voice. "Look Poverty, people only love me and respect me everywhere they see me," she said. Poverty smiled calmly and replied, "People get used to wealth quickly, but they cannot always manage to preserve it." Angered by these words, Abundance decided to go down to the city to teach people a great lesson. When she arrived in the city square, she poured sherbet from the fountains and filled the tables with delicious food.
However, seeing these endless treats, the greedy people began to fight with each other and waste the food. In a short time, neither politeness nor that warm happiness brought by sharing remained. Watching this chaos she created in astonishment, Abundance became helpless about what to do. Right at that moment, Poverty stepped into the crowd with slow steps and touched the city with her magic wand. Suddenly the extreme abundance ended, and when people lost what they had, they were forced to hug each other.
The people lovingly shared the little bread they had left, experiencing regret for pride and waste. Abundance realized that her modest friend had actually taught people the most valuable virtue. The two companions held hands and agreed to bring a balanced abundance to the city again. True wealth is hidden not in the abundance of goods, but in hearts that are content and know how to share. A man who is not content with little will find nothing with much.
